The Safe Nights for the Homeless program sponsored through LifeStyles of Maryland Inc. provides shelter for homeless citizens of Charles County in churches throughout the area.  Battling homelessness is a primary cause for LifeStyles, and Safe Nights is its most well-known initiative. The program runs from October to April, having grown from a pair of churches to more than two dozen host sites.
Lifestyles and its partner organizations offer lodging, meals and toiletries for those in need, along with other betterment activities.  Host shelters provide a warm bed and breakfast, a bag lunch and dinner. Shelter hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week.
Partnering with other local churches, Metropolitan UMC becomes a shelter for one winter week, providing our area homeless with a haven during harsh, frigid nights.
